A Merry Christmas from the Mabreys!!!

I can't believe there are only a few hours of Christmas left. For some reason this year, it wasn't feeling like Christmas to me. To be honest, even today it didn't feel like Christmas. I'm more excited about Christmas next year. Olivia will be old enough to enjoy Christmas and it's already been decided we're having Christmas at our house.

Our Christmas celebrations started Wednesday night. We went over to David's parents to have Christmas with just our family. We had a yummy dinner of crab legs and shrimp. Needless to say, I stuffed myself. Crab legs and shrimp are one of our favorite dinners. After dinner we opened gifts and of course got spoiled. Vicki and Wayne love doing a big Christmas. Even though we're all in our mid to late twenties, we still get a huge Christmas. I got a GPS and was very excited since I was convinced I was one of the few people on Earth who didn't have one already. They were all laughing at me because I was so excited over new bathroom towels (we need some desperately). You know your getting old when you get excited over towels. David got golf lessons because he needed another excuse to go play golf all the time. Olivia's big gift was a excersaucser. It's the cutest thing and I can't wait till she can use it. We all also got a ton of other stuff. They spoil us, but I'm not complaining, it's nice to be spoiled by someone else every so often. Thanks Nana & Grandpa! Y'all are too good to us!

This is one of the only pictures I got of her that night. Olivia's is rolling over like crazy now, but when she gets over, the situation results in crying. She hasn't quite figured out yet what to do when she gets over.

I'm hoping we figure it out soon. The crying gets old.

Christmas Eve everyone (my family & David's) came down to our house for our traditional Spaghetti and meatball dinner. My meme started this tradition years before I was born and it is always one of my favorite traditions at Christmas. Over the years, others have joined us and when we got married David's family started to join us. This year our little house was packed (thankfully it was nice to know this is the only year we have to squeeze in everybody), but we all had a good time. I didn't get one picture throughout the night, but it's hard to take pictures when your hosting and cooking. We always get together two days before to make the meatballs and sauce. I love spending time with these ladies. They always make me smile.

Please ignore the fact I had on no make-up and was looking rough. It was the day of my last emotional breakdown.

David headed out early Christmas morning. I barely woke up to say good-bye (sorry, honey). Olivia and I headed out to spend Christmas morning with my family. We always have breakfast together on Christmas morning. I usually never eat breakfast (real healthy I know), but I love a big breakfast. I was trying to be a photographer like all the other bloggers and take the fancy photos. I think I got a few good ones.

That is the extent of my picture taking for the rest of the Christmas day. I will say it...I suck at taking photos. I keep forgetting. I realized today though it's because I'm taking care of a baby. It's hard to keep up with a three month old and take photos. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. One of my goals for 2010 is learn how to use my camera. Nicole's only had hers for a week and she's got me beat.

After breakfast, we exchanged gifts. Olivia is a very loved little girl. She hit the jackpot today. She got a ton of new toys that she'll be playing with very soon. I can't wait till she can start playing with everything.

This is the now famous Meme...she got a digital camera and learned to text all within the last 24 hours. She's such a high tech grandma now.

This afternoon I headed over to David's family's Christmas. I did not take a single picture over there, but Olivia racked up there too. We didn't stay too long because David called and asked if we could come see him during his down time. We headed to the Waffle House to hang out with him for a while. It was the only chance Olivia had to see him today. She must had missed him these past two days because she was all smiles when she saw him. She would just look at him and smile. It melts my heart. Christmas does make for one tired baby.

She was ready for bed at 7:30pm. I'm hoping maybe she'll sleep through the night...fingers crossed. I'm now cuddled up on the couch with my new cozy throw, watching It's a Wonderful Life (it's my favorite), and waiting for the hubby to make it home. He's on hour 16 now. I'm sure he's going to be either half dead or on a high when he gets home.

Olivia and I are heading up to Virginia on Sunday to visit family. So tomorrow is going to be filled with doing laundry and packing. I'm not sure our SUV is big enough to hold a weeks worth of packing for a three month-old. Wish us luck.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!!!

Thanksgiving 2009

We had a pretty quiet Thanksgiving. I'm not complaining though.

For years we went running to one family celebration to another. At one point and time we were celebrating four in one day. It was making holidays miserable since we spent the whole day in the car and spending very little actual time with the family. A few years ago, we finally said enough was enough, so we finally got the courage to say "sorry, we won't be able to make it this year." It's made the holidays so much enjoyable now.

Of course, David had to work the first part of the day, so OK and I hung out around the house while I tried to keep her on some type of schedule. That evening we headed to my Aunt & Uncle's to have Thanksgiving dinner with my family. Like always, there was too much food and I ate way too much. I've decided that Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite. I could eat it everyday.

I hate to say that I didn't get very many pictures. I was too busy stuffing my face and playing taboo with the cousins (the girls won). Here are a few pics that I did get.

I have no title...

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!!!

We had a great one spent with family by the pool. David's parents threw a get-together at their house for the family and a few neighbors. Aubry and I headed over there earlier in the day to get some extra pool time in. So, we basically spent our whole 4th in or by the pool.

David's dad grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs and there were plenty of sides to go with it. We ate until we were miserable. I made a flag cake per David's request and I think it was a hit. There was only a small piece left for David to take home.

We headed to our (sometimes) church to see fireworks and they put on a pretty good show with music and all. There was a little boy who was about five or six that was sitting at the car next to us who evidently has seen a few fireworks in his day. He was critiquing the fireworks the entire time and had us cracking up with his comments. He evidently was impressed with the ending because he let out a big "oh yeah" at the end. He was pretty funny.

Sorry Mom, I didn't get many pictures since we were in the pool the entire day. It's kinda hard to take pictures while lying on a float. Aubry did take one good one of the two of us and normally I just steal it, but she hasn't posted it yet. Here is one pic of me. Sorry, it's not the best since it was so dark.

28 weeks & 5days

Sunday, I was lazy ALL day. I didn't do a thing but read and watch tv. Last week was a crazy week for us and it had finally caught up with me. The best thing about busy weeks is that I can sleep at night since I'm so tired. After David got off work, we spent a much needed night with the just the two of us. We went to eat mexican and tried (for the third time) to go see Transformers, but of course, it was once again sold out and we're too old to stay up for a ten o'clock movie. Instead, we went and rented a movie to watch at home. He is off the next two days, so we're going to try again to see it.

We were supposed to head up to the beach to see my family this week, but David found out he has to attend an awards banquet on one of his off days, so our trip was canceled. Plus, I didn't think I could take that much driving in a two day time span. So we're staying home and pool sitting for a friend. Of course, it is raining now....go figure.

So that is the low-down on our 4th of July weekend. Hope everyone had a great 4th!

The weekend with no plans...

Friday at work I was asked the same weekly question...got plans this weekend? For whatever reason I said nope. Well, our weekend with no plans ended up being nonstop.

Friday night Aubs and I decided to go out for dinner and a movie. Something we try to do every so often. We stopped by one of our favorite stores Serendipity so Aubs could pick up a graduation gift for her lil sister and you would be proud to know I picked up a purse, carried it around the whole store, and then put it back. I walked out without buying a thing. Go me! We then headed to dinner at our favorite pizza place American Pie. We started going there a couple of years ago and it has some how become our place (along with Chick-fil-a). We then went and saw Night at the Museum 2. It was cute and we were probably the oldest people in there with out a kid (outside of the womb). We went and sat in the center of the aisle. I didn't think about the fact that I can no longer wait two hours without jumping up and running to the bathroom. Of course I had to go as soon as the movie started. Next time I will make sure to sit on the end. Sorry to those I stepped all over running to the restroom.

Saturday morning I had time to catch up on my sleep. I am definitely taking every one's advice and getting as much sleep as I can right now. That evening, we headed over to David's parents for a graduation party for his little brother. His brother graduated with a history degree a couple of weeks ago. We got to spend a nice evening with the family. What's up next for little brother? he's off to graduate school.

Sunday morning has become my grocery shopping day. We only have a few places to shop in our little town. Because I'm lazy and I'm not one of those people who will drive to go to their favorite store...I shop at wal-mart. My favorite time to go is early Sunday mornings. If David is working at a store around here, I get up with him and go have breakfast with him and then head off to wal-mart for grocery shopping. I hate to admit but I hadn't been to the grocery store in three weeks. Needless to say our fridge was looking pretty sad and we had ate out for the past week straight. Sunday night we headed over to the Pope's to celebrate Amy's birthday with a cookout. We had a great time. The girls always seem to gather in one place and guys go off and do whatever guys do. This time in ended up in a full on football game. Several guys walked away with injuries. I was very proud that the husband thought enough to take off his nice polo shirt before they started, especially when they all walked in covered with mud. We had a great time. We always have fun with that group. No, I don't have any pictures but you can head over to Nicole's to get her thoughts on the night.

Since we stayed over at the Pope's way past our bed time Sunday, I slept in on Monday morning and took it easy while of course David worked. That afternoon we sung by to pick up the Pope's and headed to the O'Prys for a cookout. They had a ton of food which was all delicious! They had their whole family there so we were the odd balls of the group. Their family was all super sweet and made sure we all had plenty to eat. We were introduced to a game called donkey balls. They swear that is the name of the game. I evidently am a natural. Sorry, Nicole! The guys then continued on with the games while Nicole and I entertained Josie. One of the funniest parts of the evening was when Josie started calling David Elmo. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact he had a red shirt on.

After three cookouts in one weekend, I am pooped. We headed home a little early from the O'Prys so we could rest a little before the busy week ahead. Since we have a special project this week at work, I have to work a full day for the rest of the week. I'm not looking forward to it. Plus, do to the holiday weekend David is working eight straight and only gets one day off this week. I'm sure we will be crashing every night when we get home. We have another busy weekend ahead. Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!

Random side note...It has not stopped raining here for the past two weeks straight. I know we've been in a drought the past five years, but I am so sick of the rain!!! It rained the whole weekend. Is it ever going to end?

Happy 1st Mother's Day to Me!

I have a confession.

I was totally selfish on my first mother's day. To those who invited me to anything, I just told them I already had plans. Which was not totally a lie. I had plans to do what I wanted to do for my first Mother's Day...nothing.

This past week we ended up having a busy week. Last Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday we ended up having plans with friends or family. And after the Race for the Cure on Saturday, I was dead tired.

So, I woke up early to the hubby making me breakfast before he left for work. Plus, he got me a sweet card from him and Olivia. Then I went back to bed and slept till 11:00am. Evidently, all the hustle and bustle of the week had finally caught up with me. I laid around the rest of the afternoon and needed every minute of it.

David had a busy & rough day at work so we've decided to spend the rest of the day lying around being lazy. His mom had to work this Mother's Day also so we had already planned on taking her out to dinner tomorrow night.

Happy Mother's Day to my mom and hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Easter Weekend 2009

This past weekend was a crazy one for us. We had a few ups & downs and unexpected happenings. Thankfully, it's all over now...

Friday night, David's car blew it's engine. We knew this was coming. We were already planning on buying a new car at the end of the year. We were just praying that his jeep would last till then. He drives A LOT for his job and needed a car that can stand up to the daily abuse. Unfortunately, when his car broke down, I was over an hour away at the Sugarland concert and my Aunt & Uncle who live ten minutes down the road were out of town. To make things funnier, my car was at their house but he had no keys to them. So he had to wait over two hours till his daddy & mommy could get there to get him and the car.

The good news is the car is dead! I hated that stupid Jeep from day one. Yes, he could probably fix it but he doesn't have the time right now and fortunately I was able to convince him just to go ahead and buy a new one since he was already going to do that later this year. Saturday we went and looked at cars. After stopping a few places, we went and saw our car guy that we usually buy our cars from. Luckily he had something David liked. It was late when we finally decided what he wanted to do so they couldn't finish the deal till Monday. We've already already talked to them this morning and everything is good to go. They are cleaning up the car now and we are going to pick it up and sign the papers when David gets off work. Luckily, since David needed a car this morning, I got to extend my Spring Break an extra day. I'm not complaining...that stupid Jeep finally did some good for me.

Saturday morning, David also had his interview for his next promotion. We had been nervous about this for the past few weeks because they (his bosses) we're acting funny about the whole situation and rumors were flying high at the WH, so we were afraid we would have to move soon. Something we weren't ready for right now. His interview went fantastic. Like always, he has exceeded their expectations. They want to keep him in their area, but right now they have nothing open, so for now we're staying where we are. We were excited about this. He does want to be promoted, but just not right now. They told us to expect it within the next year which fits more into our timeline. So for now we have plenty of time to prepare to move. We were happy with the decision and we were both relieved.

After a rocky start to the weekend, we had a nice Easter to finish the weekend up. David had to work of course, but I went to church with my Aunt & Uncle and the headed over to their house for lunch. Later that afternoon I headed home to pick up David and we headed to his grandparents. We ate way too much (like always) and had a great time seeing everyone. It was a nice end to the crazy weekend.

Update

Yes, I am alive....I received a phone call yesterday informing me that some family members that I didn't even know read my blog, we're concerned with my lack of postings lately. I've learned over the holidays that more people than I realized read my blog. I'm not quit sure if that is a good thing or bad.

To be honest, I haven't even being stalking my blogs that I normally stalk. In fact, I was kinda bummed because I found out some very exciting news about my friend Nicole through the hubby and normally I'm the one keeping him informed with all the family and friend's news. I'm so excited for you Nicole! We've been talking about this day since we first met and now it's finally here! I am so happy for you guys! I'm about to be closer to you also!

These past few weeks have been hectic of course. Christmas was alright. DW worked pretty much all of Christmas Eve and Christmas day, so I was kinda bummed even though I've spent the holiday before by myself. The best part was DW got a call two days after Christmas telling him that he had the highest Christmas day sales in the ENTIRE company. So yeah, I'm bragging on my man. You go boy! I did spend Christmas morning with my family and the afternoon with DW's family. I was extremely blessed in the gift department. I got way more than I deserved this year. But, I was honestly kinda happy to see the holidays go. I really wasn't feeling it this year for some reason.

I did travel up to Richmond to visit my family this year. I love going up to visit. My dad's family is originally from Virginia and still the majority of his family still lives up there. Even though I've never lived up there, it always feels like home for some reason. My Dad's aunt Janie is a wonderful hostess and for whatever reason allows our crazy bunch to crash her house every year and spoils us while we're there. This lady is the most amazing cook I know. Every night (and morning) is a wonderful meal. Also while there, we went and visited the Native American reservation that my Grandmother's family is from and still lives. Its amazing seeing the history and where my great-great-great grandparents were raised. The only pictures I got were on my phone. I plan on going on facebook to steal some of the Pratt's pictures. I'll post when I get done.

In other news with the Mabreys....I start school on Wednesday. I've already bought new notebooks and pens so I am ready for it to begin. Yes, I am the dork that counts down to the beginning of school. Laugh all you want. Plus, I had an extra Christmas present on Christmas Eve...the school had finally posted final grades and I ended up with three A's and one B. So better than I thought. I was pretty stoked. We're also on our house hunt again. We went and looked at a house today and I loved it. It's in the neighborhood I love and it was built in the 1930's, so it is filled with cottage charm. I am in love. The kitchen isn't my ideal, but I guess you can't expect but so much from a 70 year old house. The people are pretty nice and I think they liked us. So, keep your fingers crossed. It is such an Amber house for those who know me. Y'all will love it. I took a picture of the front and I will post it when I get a chance.

DW has off today and tomorrow so we are spending some much needed time together. We headed to our favorite little Gtown and did some major bargain shopping. I introduced DW to the sock shoppe (a discount clothing store) and he introduced me to a thrift store his workers shop at all the time. We ended up with a new $20 couch. It is lovely 70's orange and green striped, but it was really comfy and pretty sturdy. I wish I had taken a picture of us both laid out on this couch in the middle of this store. No, we weren't embarrassed, we had our feet propped up and everything. DW's dad has some experience with upholstery, so he is going to help us with it. I now have a new favorite thrift store and yes, I almost beat up this older black lady for this full length mirror she had. She said she goes there everyday. Lady, share the wealth with the rest of us and I know my flower picture was nice...back off!

So that's all I have now...

Christmas Eve

I love the Christmas Season...but today, Christmas Eve, is my absolute favorite day of the year.

Growing up, Christmas Eve was a special night for my family. I have always spent it with my dad's family. My Meme always makes homemade spaghetti sauce with homemade meatballs. It is what she is famous for. Our family would all gather at my grandparents house with friends who had no where to go on Christmas Eve and enjoy Meme's spaghetti. After dinner, we would all walk down the street to a neighbors for dessert. I remember as a kid looking up in the sky being convinced that every light from a airplane was Santa sleigh. Those nights were always so magical and that is what I love most about them.

Over the years much has changed for our family. My grandparents have since moved from that neighborhood and several family members are no longer with us. The friends who once had dinner with us now are long gone also. But no matter what changes have occurred, our family still gathers on Christmas Eve to have the famous spaghetti dinner. Luckily, I have been passed the tradition. Since DW and I have been married, I have have had the honor of hosting the Christmas Eve dinner. Our group has once again grown since we include DW's family in the tradition. Of course, Meme still helps with the making of the spaghetti. I mostly just roll the meatballs out (150 this year). Tonight at six o'clock, our two families will gather to continue on a tradition on a night that to me is still just as magical as it was when I was a kid.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Cookies and Rock Band

I haven't had much of a chance to post lately because I'm sure like everyone else we haven't stopped these past few weeks. Plus, I have been working to fill my time while being out of school so I am not home during the day which is when I do much of my posting. So what have we been up to lately?

This past weekend we had Christmas with my mom's side of the family. My mom and John came down Friday night so they could be here for the festivities. My Grandma cooked an amazing meal and I have seriously not seen that much food in my entire life. They had the regular family there and had invited several families from their church, so we had about 35-40 people there. Of course, my grandma cooked it all. The food was delicous and everyone walked away stuffed and there was still food left over.

Sunday night the parents decided that we could all open one gift. So Santa came a little early. They got DW's brother Rock Band for Wii. I think they let him open it because they couldn't wait to play it. Needless to say, we haven't stopped playing it...

We've gotten pretty good at it so far. Each person has something they are best at. Mine is singing followed by the guitar. Warning, if you start playing you will become addicted.

Monday night Momma Mabrey and I made cookies. They tasted good but my decorating left little to be desired. They make it look so easy on the cookie commercials.

Of course the decorating didn't stop anyone in our house from eating them.

Back from the dead...

Believe it or not....I am alive! Sorry I have been a bad blogger lately....I haven't really had much time or inspiration honestly. These past two weeks have been filled with tons of school work and some type of event every night it seems. The sad part is, this is just the beginning. This is where my hate for the holidays comes in. We (like I'm sure everyone else) have something every weekend through New Years and at least one event during the week. Throw on top of that exams in the next few weeks and I am not doing well in Tort Law...it doesn't look as though it is going to be my specialty. So there is my complaining for the day...

What we've been up to the past few weeks (sorry it's a long one)...

Santa came early to my house this year! I will admit I love tv! I am a tv person and though most people really don't admit it, I will....I love watching tv! That being said, I have wanted a flat screen for the past few years. We have literaly looked at them and compared them hundreds of times. Last Christmas we decided that we were finally going to get one with our income tax return the following January. Unfortunately, we owed $1395 to Uncle Sam, so there went the new tv. But, I have been heavily hinting that I really wanted a new tv for Christmas. So I came home last Monday night to find this...

I was stoked. I have the best in-laws in the world! Seriously! They bought me a new tv for Christmas and even gave it to me early so I can watch all my Christmas movies. I don't know all the details of what it is and I'm sure all the ladies are like me and really don't care. All I know it's a Samsung 42" flat screen tv and it's the smaller version of what the in-laws have and it looks cool. D.W. whipped up his Bob Vila skills and made some modifications to our old entertainment center so the new tv will fit. It looks awesome! I will take pictures to post later.

We also went to celebrate Pope's 27th birthday last week at Dave & Busters. We had a blast with everyone and cannot wait to do it again. I didn't take any pictures but you can head to the Popes blog to view the pictures taken that night. There are some pretty funny ones especially the one of Pope's face after a shot...priceless!

After celebrating with the Popes, I got dropped off at the Fall Leadership Conference for school. I won't go on and on about it but, I did learn a few things....

1. I have a very low tolerance for people. People get on my nerves...especially stupid people. I don't consider myself a genius by any means, but people (especially young people) have no sense anymore. I'm scared to see our "future." People are getting dumb.

2. I can't deal with staying in a hotel room by myself for two nights. I didn't sleep any those two nights. I have gone off before without D.W., but I am always with family so it was never a big deal. Saturday night I cried and almost had a nervous breakdown because I hated it so much. My wonderful husband was so sweet and drove an hour up to wherever I was to take me to dinner even though he had to be up at 5am the next morning to drive the hour drive to Thomaston. He is the bestest!

And no, I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. So I had an awful time. I will not be roped into it again next year that is for sure.

Last Sunday night when I got home D.W. took me to see my movie...yes, I am a twilight addict! I couldn't wait to see the movie. I know I am one of the few people that liked the movie. Yes, the books are 100% better than the movie, but I didn't think the movie was as cheesy as everyone keeps saying it is. There are some cheesy parts and lines, but what do you expect...it's a vampire love story. I thought the movie was a good short recap of the book. If you haven't read the books...read them now...they are seriously some of the best love story books I have read. But, I have a confession...we went and saw it again on Monday. First, it was the hubby's idea and secondly, when we went on Sunday we sat in front of two 15 year olds that talked the ENTIRE movie. I even at one point turned around and told her the shut up. She was quiet for about five minutes and then started whispering which turned into loud talking again. So, we decided to go back and see it again and we loved it the second time around. D.W. even liked it so much he is reading the books now...I don't think I'm supposed to tell anyone though.

In other movie reviews, I went and saw Four Christmases with the girls from work Wednesday night....Hilarious! I will warn you that it is pretty vulgar in some parts so I wouldn't take anyone under the age 16 or even 18 (several families got up and left with their kids), it is hilarious though. And no, they don't even show the funniest parts on the previews, those are the tame parts. Defiantly an adult comedy, but a great laugh.

Our Thanksgiving was okay...for some reason it didn't feel like Thanksgiving. D.W. had to work of course so I just hung out around the house in the morning. That afternoon we went to my aunt and uncles and had dinner with about 15 people we didn't know. We ate and then headed out to my grandparents. We had a very small group, but we had a great time. It was just D.W. and I and my cousin Andy and his wife and two babies. D.W. and I got some great parenting time in. D.W. played with Drew who is three. Drew is all boy and D.W. had a blast with him. He's decided he wants one that age. He was scared of the baby. The baby Wesley, was only five weeks old and the cutest baby I have seen. I hate that I don't have any pictures. I forgot my camera at home. I held, feed, and played with him the whole time. Thank you Leslie for allowing me to play mommy for the night and giving me some advice and tips for when I have my own. I have decided that my cousin Andy's wife Leslie is my new favorite person on that side of the family. She is super sweet and at the same time honest. She's great. I wish they lived closer to us.

In other news...D.W. and I have decided it is time for us to move out of the parents house. Yes, we've only been here for six months and no we haven't accomplished what we wanted, but if we don't move, then our marriage may not survive. I won't go into much detail, but we've been having a very tough time. We are fighting constantly and always at each others throats and that is not like us. We decided Wednesday that we had to move. We talked with the parents and they completely understand. In fact, they are ready for all four of us to be out (they haven't lived alone in over 28 years). We are most likely going to stay through Christmas, but we are going to start looking for a house to rent in the Griffin area. We already have a few prospects in our favorite neighborhood, but we are going to start looking more heavily in December. We are hoping to be out in the first few weeks of January. When we originally moved in we wanted to save up and buy a house, but a few weeks ago we decided that right now is not right time for us to buy a house. D.W. has decided that he doesn't want to settle until he gets promoted to a division manager which is the next step. They have already told him that to get a division in the next two years there is a 90% chance that we will have to move. All the division managers around here a filled and no one is leaving anytime soon. All of them have been there a minimum of 15 years and are not willing to relocate. So that means we will have to. We are fine with moving and decided that we didn't want a house to tie us down. So, we had decided months ago that we were not going to buy a house after we moved from here. So keep your fingers crossed and say your prayers that we make it this next month and we find a house to rent that works for us.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I'm one of those people...

So hate me if you must, but I'm one of those people....those who want to start celebrating Christmas the day after Halloween. I love the fact that the stores playing Christmas music already or the Christmas decor to be displayed in the stores. I love it and the longer, the better.

First, in my defense, I'm not much of a Halloween person. Never really have been. Anyways, Halloween isn't what it used to be like when I was a kid. No one trick or treats anymore. Everyone goes to the trunk or treats and I think it takes all the fun out of Halloween. Maybe if I had kids I would feel different, but I can't promise my feelings will change.

Anyways, it is not so much the actual Christmas day that I love as it is the Christmas season. I love the decorations, the music, the get togethers with family and friends, the movies and tv specials, and the fact in general, most everyone is in a better mood this time of year. I love the lights and the cozy nights that seem to come with the season. I love the nights spent driving around looking at Christmas lights. I love how everyone's home looks more like a home with the tree and decorations all around the house. Think about it, doesn't your house seem empty for about a week when you take it all down?

But, that's why I don't see what the problem is with starting to celebrate the season after Halloween. In my eyes, it means two months of the season instead of one. Don't think I am forgetting about Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving, especially the food. Thanksgiving for me is like a trial run for the Christmas. I know that I am not the only one in this boat. One of my best friends has already put up her tree. She does it every year after Halloween. Plus, we both sent each other text when we heard Christmas music on the radio this past Friday night. I won't lie, I have debated putting up my tree next weekend...I will be out of town the weekend before and after Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving comes late this year....that's my argument atleast.

So, I say...Let the Christmas Season Begin!
