The Most Awesome Day!

This week started off with some bad news....we owe Uncle Sam again this year. This just plain sucks. We owed last year and sadly owe even more this year. So instead of saving Baby money right now, we are now saving Tax money. Basically the problem is we have no deductions, no house or no kids....luckily that is going to change next year since we're planning on getting both. We now have a new nickname for the baby, David has started calling it "daddy's tax deduction."

Fortunately, we have headed into the end of the week with nothing but good news. We went to our first doctors appointment and had all good news. The doctor confirmed that we are 10 weeks and 4 days. She also confirmed the due date to be September 21, 2009. She said everything looked great, my blood pressure was good, my weight was good, and the size of the baby was right were it should be. She is going to send me to a prenatal specialist to have the genetic testing to be done within the next few weeks. To our surprise she is more concerned with David's family medical history than mine and that is why she wants to perform the test. Due to the fact that my brother has spina bifida, she did up my folic acid and I'm now on prescription folic acid. But like I said she seemed more concerned with David's family than the spina bifida. So far though she said she was very pleased with how we are coming along.

Of course, the best part was the ultrasound. We weren't sure if we would get to have one because we had heard different things. But once she confirmed we were 10 weeks, she wanted to go ahead and have one. We went in laid down and the tech informed us she would look at the baby and then turn the screen to show us. I think that was one of the best moments in my life. The moment she turned the screen...I lost it. On the screen was a perfect picture of our baby. We got to see it all, arms and legs. That was the moment that it hit me and made it official for me...a perfect picture of our baby. I took three pregnancy test, but it's was still hard for me to believe because you can not feel anything. Other than being sick, I haven't felt any different. The tech then let us hear the heartbeat and it was loud and strong. Hearing the heartbeat was David's favorite part and his "real moment." They said they were happy because the baby's heartbeat was strong. They like to keep there patients on a certain schedule, so I will go back in two weeks. We won't have a ultrasound, but we will get to hear the heartbeat again. But to some up the day...it was an AWESOME day! I will try to get the ultrasound pictures posted in the next few days. I don't want to post them till after the grandparents get to see them.

To make the week even better, I am heading up to Nashville & Louisville to visit my family up there. I am excited to get to see them all. I will have pictures to post when I get back. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Gender Predictions

While I should have been taking a contracts test for one of my classes, I was wasting time on the internet instead. While wasting time, I came across this Chinese Gender Chart at the bump. You use the age you are when the baby is conceived and then the month it was conceived and then it locates on the chart whether it will be a boy or girl. This is the first I have ever heard of this so who knows if it works. It says it is 90% accurate. The comments women left on whether it works or not is about 50/50. I just thought it would be fun to see if it's prediction comes true.

I think a few people in the family will be excited with it's prediction, while others may not be. It's predicted that we will have a Girl. I'm not (yet) convinced this chart works and wouldn't place any bets on it. I thought it would just be interesting to see if it's prediction is true. Hopefully, in just 10 more weeks we'll find out.

Updates

Last week was a bad week for me. I was sick the whole week. Morning, noon, and night. I have seriously tried all the little tips that people have given me or that I have read out of the pregnancy book or websites. So far, nothing has worked. The funniest part about pregnancy is that everyone wants to give advice (which I gladly take all) but the first thing you realize is that every pregnancy is different. It is just amazes me how every woman who goes through pregnancy is going through the same process, but every woman's pregnancy is different. So far this week has been pretty good for me...we're hoping that it continues. I haven't been sick and I've had more energy. According to the online pregnancy calculator, I'm starting on my 10th week, so hopefully this is a good sign of things getting better.

My first doctors appointment is this Thursday. I will post after to let you know how it goes and what the doctor tells me. So far, I'm excited about it. I'm sure once Thursday morning comes I'll be a little nervous. DW has arranged to take the morning off to go with me. A few weeks ago my fear was that when I went the doctor would inform me I wasn't pregnant and the test were wrong. My mom eased those fears for me when she informed she was sure that three positive pregnancy test couldn't be wrong (yes, I took three to be sure). Then my fear moved on to the doctor would tell me I was gaining too much weight. I haven't weighed myself since the beginning of the year and I was convinced that I had gained ten pounds since my clothes feel as though they no longer fit. I weighed myself this morning and I have actually lost five pounds since the beginning of January. So I guess I am out of stuff to worry about for the moment. Don't worry...I'm sure I'll walk away from the doctors appointment with a new worry.

I think not....

Someone in the family made a comment recently about me riding the motorcycle when I was pregnant. No, it was not one of those "we're concerned that you maybe shouldn't ride the motorcycle when your pregnant" comments, it was more of them making fun of me riding the motorcycle while I am pregnant. That is just how my family shows their love.

I can promise you one thing, this is a sight you will not be seeing this summer...

This picture is hilarious to me. I came across this photo of Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber while keeping up with my celebrity gossip on People.com. I can guarantee that you will not be seeing my pregnant butt on the back of the hubby's motorcycle this summmer. To each her own, but I don't see me doing this. She looks extremely uncomfortable. Nope, my pregnant butt will be comfortable sitting on the leather seats of the Trailblazer with the sunroof open.

***Just for those who I know are probably freaking out thinking that I might ride the motorcycle while pregnant....I have not taken a ride on the thing since last fall when we went to the mountains and I do not plan on riding it anytime while I'm pregnant. So please don't worry or send me hate comments. Thanks***

Sick

Sorry, I haven't felt up to blogging lately. I have been sick for the past few days. I started not feeling well on Friday and it continued through the weekend and into today.

You know how you hear of those women who were never sick throughout their pregnancy? Well, evidently I'm not one of them.

I have been told of several magic foods that your baby might possibly enjoy, but I haven't found that magic food yet. This baby isn't liking anything so far. So needless to say weight gain is not on my worry list at the moment.

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day!

Baby Talk

Since we're having a baby...get ready for a lot of post about the baby. I figured I should go ahead and warn you. But the point of this blog was to keep the family that we do not get to see everyday up to date on what's going on with our lives...so I guess baby stories fall in that category.

For those who don't know, I am fortunate to get to work with my cousin/best friend Aubry, since I see her on a daily basis, she has already started talking to the baby. Last night before I leave for class, the hubby and I get into a conversation about talking to the baby. I mention to him that Aubry has started talking to baby. He wants to know "what does she say to the baby?" So, I tell him "she just says things like hey baby or bye baby." Then I tell him that if you talk to the baby before it's born that it will recognize your voice when it's born.

In DW's true competitive spirit, he says "well, I don't want the baby to recognize Aubry and not me." So now every time I walk in the room he screams "hey baby." The funny part of it is that he says it in this Elvis voice. It seriously sounds like something Uncle Jessie would say on Full House. I told him that the baby was going to come out thinking it's dad was Elvis. And of course every time says it he informs me "I don't want Aubry to beat me."

I love how guys can make everything a competition.

Mouse Traps and Peanut Butter

Monday night I am sitting in class and I receive a text from the hubby that says "do we have peanut butter?"

I knew why he was looking for peanut butter so I text back "No."

We right now have a bit of a mouse problem. The house was sitting empty for over a year and is surrounded by a lot of land, so naturally, the mice found a nice quiet home this past year. Before you completely gross out, it's not that bad. We haven't actually even seen one, just it's droppings left over the house. At first I did freak out, but after talking to a few people, it seems everyone will or has had this problem at some point in time.

The advice that has been given is to set traps with peanut butter and eventually you'll catch them or they will just go away. So when I received the text, I knew that is what the hubby was up to.

Yesterday I open the cabinet and see the jar of peanut butter that the hubby has bought for our little mouse friends. When I saw it I just laughed.

Hey, everyone is watching their weight these days...I guess he wanted to make sure the mouse did not get fat off the trap. Maybe it also has salmonella and we can really get rid of the skinny mice.

Comfort

My mother-in-law is hands down the best. This past Saturday she came down to help me unpack my kitchen stuff and of course like always we made time to do a little shopping. While looking at all the cute baby stuff at Hobb's Pharmacy, I mentioned to her that I swear that my jeans already don't fit. In fact, on Friday I made DW take me to the store to buy a pair in a bigger size. Of course, the next day at a family birthday party, she shows up with a gift in hand for me...a pair of maternity jeans.

I wore them for the first time yesterday and all I have to say is that I am in love. They are a little loose, but I can still wear them now and will have room to grow. They are serious comfort. They should make all jeans like this. I went on and on last night about how comfortable they were and DW called me out saying "your going to wear them after you have the baby, aren't you?" I had to admit that I have considered it. They are a god sent.

Could you please stop?

I'm sitting in class waiting for my next class...a classmate who is also waiting has cleared her throat at least fifty times in the last ten minutes...it is driving me crazy...could someone please get her a cough drop?

It is seriously the most annoying noise you can hear in a silent room.

Big News...

It's been a week since I have last posted and a lot has been going on since then. First off, we've moved into our new house. It was an event (like moving always is). I have decided that I really don't enjoy it at all. We have had pipes break, sink handles falling off, and a little mouse problem. But I guess what can you expect from a fifty year old house that has been sitting empty for over a year. We did get a call from the owners last night to tell us that they drove by and it just felt like old times to see lights on again, so that did make us feel a little better. For some reason we have had a hard time settling in this house. I know it will come with time, but for right now everything is still just sitting in boxes waiting to be unpacked.

Of course that is not my big news...most that read my blog already know...We're having a baby!!!

I have been a few weeks late and had a feeling, but do to several disappointing negative pregnancy tests, I put off testing. I woke up early Sunday morning and decided to finally take the test. Of course, it came out positive. It was 3:45am so I sat and decided whether I should wake David to tell him. Of course after about five seconds, I decided to go and wake him. Of course, he was excited as anyone could be at that time of morning. We had talked about it and decided that we were not going to tell anyone until we went to the doctor. When I called on Monday to schedule an appointment, the next available appointment the doctor had was February 26. Tuesday night at dinner, David finally broke down and confessed he couldn't wait that long to tell someone (he sucks at secrets). I told him lets go buy another test and that if it came out positive we would tell everyone. So, obviously, it came out positive. We decided to call his mom first because she has been begging for a grandchild before we even got married. She of course screamed for a good sixty seconds. We then called my dad, who I think didn't believe us and my mom who swears she knew what we were calling for when the phone rang. We then called and text the rest of our friends and family. I just loved hearing every one's reactions. After about 10pm when the phone calls and text ended, the hubby stated "I feel better now." I guess I don't have to worry about him lying to me. He couldn't keep it a secret for two days.
