She is my rock, my lifeline and literally my Best Friend Forever. She will never be replaced. By birth we're cousins, but we've were raised and have acted always more like sisters. There is a little less than three years age difference between us, so we have always been close. We are just alike, but completely different.
She has seen me at my absolute worst and stood next to me on my best day as my maid of honor. She is the first one I called when I got engaged (sorry parents) and one of the first who was there to hug me when I lost my dad Steve. I know if I need anything she will be the first one there with no questions asked. The same goes for me for her. Our relationship has had its ups and downs. When we hit the college years, we didn't talk as much on a daily basis. But no matter how long we went without talking, we always picked up where we had last left off. Luckily, these past three years, we've grown closer and closer as time goes by. We now have gotten to the point we have to talk everyday.
This past Sunday, we went to see the movie Bride Wars which of course we loved. It was our type of movie. The funny part is the characters in the movie Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) are pretty much Aubs and me. When it comes to personalities (and our relationship) I am a lot like Liv and Aubs is like Emma. Throughout the movie we were continuously elbowing each other at the parts that reminded us of each other. Of course, in real life we would never act how those two acted towards each other.
The best part of the movie was the end when the narrator of the movie, Candace Bergen, made a speech about friends. I cannot remember it word for word, but it went something like this...
...all of us search for our soul mates. Some are lucky to find them and spend the rest of their lives with them as husband and wife...but a lot of times we never realize that our soul mates had been right there the whole time, standing beside us for the last twently years...
Like I said, its not the quote word for word, but this sentence sums up Aubs and I relationship. Friends have come and gone, but we've been by each others side for the last 24 years. As far as friendships go, she is my soul mate, my other half and I could not imagine my life without her.
